I came home from camp feeling a little under the weather. By the Tuesday, I felt awful and went to the doctors - couldn't get into my own, so went to the local A&E doctors. I had a sinus infection that had spread to the chest. Great! The doctor asked if I was allergic to anything, to which I replied Penicillin. She asked about my reaction and I advised it was when I was little and ended up with a swollen red face. She advised I probably would be alright now and give me a penicillin based antibiotic.
The first day was OK. The second day I was feeling a little irritable and had an itchy head. My first thought - check for head lice - that was a negative, but I still couldn't figure it out. By day 3 however, when I was covered in hot red itching welts and red rashes, I knew something was not right. I couldn't get in to my own doctor again and so thought I'd head up to the chemist. Definitely allergic to Penicillin. So after a weeks course of a strong anti-histamine, I'm starting to feel a lot better and the rashes have almost gone.
Note to self - ensure the local A&E is updated with the fact I am most definitely allergic to Penicillin - in case I ever end up in there unconscious!

Winter Strawberries
If I hadn't seen it for myself, I wouldn't have believed it. Strawberries in the middle of winter. I trimmed the plant back a bit after the end of the season and just left them in their containers out on the deck. When the first strawberry arrived, I thought it was a fluke as it was all by itself. It ripened and was so super sweet. Now, a whole bunch of them are growing like crazy, with two just about ready for another sweet treat (if I can get in before Jayden). How nice to have fresh homegrown strawberries in July!

And from my garden...
...came this gorgeous spray of orchids. I forgot to take a photo before going to camp, so they are a little tired looking compared to when I first brought them inside, but still wanted to capture them, as they only seem to flower every other year. I have another orchid plant out the back and I see it is about ready to flower now too.

Birthday Flowers
This is what I cam from ScrapCamp to find on the kitchen bench. Mike is pretty consistent when it comes to getting me flowers on birthdays, Mother's Day, etc. He said the kids picked these ones out all by themselves. I think they did a superb job.

Baby Shower
It has been years since I showered with a baby, so I jumped at the chance to give Vienna a shower. It was really nice. She squealed with delight and we had lots of laughs together playing with the water on our heads, down our face and a little splashing. Then we called mum to come and get the clean girl. The photo is a bit blurry, probably because of the steam escaping the bathroom at camp.
I know she really isn''t doing this, but let's just pretend that she's giving the shower with Carrie a super thumbs up. lol!
Painting baby
Wendy decided to let Vienna do some painting at camp, so when the sun came out, she popped her in front of the window and stripped her down to a nappy to paint. Vienna had a ball, using a brush, her hands and her nappy covered bottom to paint the paper. It was way cute to watch.
Towards the end, Wendy coated her hand with the bright pink and she popped it straight into her mouth, which made us all laugh and she had another of her shock reactions and cried her little heart out. Wendy calmed her down with a nice warm sink bath.
Visitors at Camp
We had a visit from Paula and her Grand-daughter Sonia Marie on Wednesday morning. Paula told us that Sonia-Marie had just started walking and Sonia-Marie delighted us with a show of a few steps. She wasn't too keen to share her juice bottle or her shape toy with Vienna though and held her back a little, which we all laughed a little at. Wendy then decided it was time to add some of Vienna's toys to the play date. This included a book, which they book tried to grab. It was cute to watch them with their little tug of war. Then Vienna managed to get it to herself and held it up as if saying 'ha I got it'. Again we laughed. We went and had some lunch in the dining room, then returned to the lounge where they sat and played together nicely before it was time to go home. Vienna rocked her new wee friend in her car seat before Paula and Sonia-Marie left.

Pre-Teens
Taryn and Sam, the two cool pre-teen Group Leaders at kids camp! They tell me I'm so old school some times. I almost hate to tell them where that pose they are using came from. Something to do with a fever someone had on a Saturday night!!!

Pot Baby?
I have seen Vienna in quite a few amusing things, including a bucket at Paula's and a shopping basket at spotlight, but this one just made me laugh out loud. So loud in fact that she reacted to my laughter and cried her poor little heart out. Tears, sobs and all. I felt bad at first, but didn't take it personally. i think it gave her a fright and then over our time at camp I learned it was just one of those new things and she did it a few more times whenever someone laughed out loud or made a loud noise. I tried to laugh a little quieter after that.
I joked with the kids at camp that we were having Pot Baby that night for dinner. some laughed, some gave me a funny looked, one look a little worried! lol - but not too loud!!!

Too Cute
Miss V is just as cute as a button, there's no doubt about that, but in this photo, even cuter to me, is seeing my pre-teen daughter enjoying interacting with Vienna. Prior to Vienna arriving, Taryn had little to do with any form of pre-schooler, especially babies. I don't know what it is about Vienna that has drawn Taryn in, as she still hasn't been drawn to any other babies, but she certainly loves this one!
